    Is Iran's Nuclear Status Inevitable?

All Things Considered, April 26, 2006 · Nuclear and intelligence experts are divided over whether it is inevitable that Iran will acquire a nuclear weapon, despite the best efforts of the West to prevent it. Some argue it's time to face a hard truth: There may be no way to stop Iran from getting the bomb.

Others disagree, saying sanctions and other "coercive diplomatic" tactics might still work. They also hope that a change of government in Tehran could change the direction the country is headed, as happened in South Africa, which once flirted with nuclear power.
